Countertops get templated after cabinets are set, and fabrication takes its own time after that. Special-order cabinet lines and some tile can take weeks to arrive. When those dates are guesses, a kitchen sits half-finished. So we lock selections first, then build the schedule backward from the slowest item.

Three ways a kitchen project usually goes
Most kitchens we scope fall into one of these, and each one changes what has to be ordered and when.
Same footprint, new everything
Cabinets, counters, backsplash, lighting, and paint replaced on the existing plumbing and wiring locations. Fastest to order and the least rough-in work.
Moving the sink or range
Relocating a sink, range, or island means new plumbing and electrical runs before cabinets arrive, so rough-in dates drive the order dates.
Small kitchens with tight access
Condos and townhomes with HOA rules, shared walls, or limited delivery access. We plan deliveries and staging around those limits.

The job runs in three stretches, and nothing gets torn out until the first one is done.
Selections & schedule
We measure, check plumbing and electrical capacity, confirm selections, and put dates against each order in a written proposal.
Tear-out & rough-in
Selective demolition, then plumbing and electrical rough-in and substrate prep. Neighboring rooms are covered and debris leaves on a set schedule.
Install & close-out
Cabinets go in, counters are templated and set, then tile, fixtures, lighting, paint, and trim. We walk the punch list with you before handoff.
One licensed crew holds the schedule from tear-out to trim.

How far ahead should I pick cabinets and counters?
As early as you can. We like every selection confirmed before demolition, because cabinet and counter lead times set the whole schedule. Counters are templated only after cabinets are installed, so their fabrication time comes on top of that.
Who orders the materials?
Either of us can. If you buy fixtures or tile yourself, we list them in the scope with a needed-by date so the crew is never waiting on a box. Items we order are tracked against the same dates.
What happens if something arrives damaged or late?
We tell you as soon as we know and show you how it moves the schedule. Work that does not depend on that item keeps going where it can, and any change in scope is written down before it happens.
Do you coordinate plumbing and electrical?
Yes. Licensed plumbing and electrical work is coordinated as part of the job: rough-in before cabinets, trim-out after finishes. If the panel or service needs an upgrade, that is priced as its own line.
