Before you ask for a remodel price

A remodel quote is only as good as the scope behind it. Two kitchens of the same size can land far apart in price depending on whether walls move, plumbing relocates or the cabinets are custom. These guides help you settle those choices first, so the number you get back means something.

Four decisions that shape the price

  1. Decide what has to change. List the problems with the room today, like storage, layout, a leak or worn finishes, before picking new materials.
  2. Fix the layout, then the finishes. Moving a sink or a wall changes the price far more than switching tile.
  3. Ask what is behind the walls. Older homes can hide outdated wiring, rot or missing ventilation. Plan a buffer for what demolition reveals.
  4. Plan how you will live during the work. A kitchen out of service for weeks or the only bathroom offline changes the schedule you can accept.
